Welcome back everybody. I’m Dr. Melissa Gallagher. To all of you new joining me, welcome. I hope you’ll become a part of my community by hitting the little subscribe and bell button. Today’s video about CBD for migraine pain is inspired by so many of you viewers who wrote in and asked me questions about how to use CBD for migraine relief and if it was even effective. So today I’m going to share with you some of my clinical experiences and expertise when it comes to the clinical findings on CBD and the balancing of your endocannabinoid system to resolve pain as it relates to the migraine-related pain in your head, and then also the complimentary systems and symptoms that occur when you’re dealing with migraines.
In today’s video, I want to delve into a lot of the research and the options for utilizing CBD, cannabidiol, to manage the pain related to migraines. And migraine pain can be varied. There’s really seven kind of distinct types of migraines in the categorizing migraine types. Many of you probably fall into the cluster migraine, the hormone migraine, the weather migraine. Those have been actually declassified by the experts in migraines, but the reality is you still experience pain, so this is applicable also for all of you.
The major factors behind migraines are inflammation. There’s a whole assortment of triggers for a lot of folks, and so that’s something that I go into in further detail in my protocol, food triggers, environmental triggers, hormonal triggers, stress triggers, all of those things. You can combat that, but at the end of the day, there’s often still the migraine impact. What research shows is CBD blocks both dopamine production in the brain and inflammation. So those are two big things that are often major sources for migraines. So repetitive migraines, the retinal migraines, the hemiplegic migraines, the migraines with aura, the migraines without aura, all of those migraine types have certain triggers.
The thing that CBD does and how it’s so impactful is it first bounces your endocannabinoid system. This is a system just like your hormone system, your endocrine system, your lymphatic system. It’s its own system in the body and it is most receptive to cannabidiol. Cannabidiol helps to keep that system balanced. Many of the cases of folks who are presenting with migraines, and particularly frequent migraines, their endocannabinoid system is imbalanced.
It’s literally clinically proven that if you deal with migraines on a monthly, weekly basis frequently, which is very common for the common and the more complicated migraines, if you utilize CBD therapy, not only in the onset or in a full-blown state, but if you use it preventatively, you can actually have a greater impact on balancing your endocannabinoid system, thereby reducing the whole symptomatic experience that you’re dealing with. And when I say symptomatic, we’re talking about nausea, vomiting, even where you have blurry vision or can’t see for a period of an hour or more.
The other thing that’s very common with migraine sufferers is a real great sensitivity to noise and light. All of that is occurring because of some of the chaos going on in the gray matter that’s kicking up your inflammation levels, it’s kicking up your dopamine and causing all these neurotransmitter imbalances. What they’ve clinically proven is that CBD, when we’re consuming it internally, topically, through a whole assortment of really power-punching the body with balancing your endocannabinoid system, CBD can actually block the spinal, the peripheral, and the gastrointestinal mechanisms that promote pain.
So why is this important to you? If you are a migraine sufferer and you vomit all the time, you feel nauseous all the time, you have to go to bed, you need no light, you close all your doors and you lock yourself in, you feel dizzy, you feel just completely run down, you lose vision, you have that kind of aching, dull pain, sharp pain, blurry vision, all of those different symptoms, even diarrhea, these can all be easily managed through very intense CBD therapy.
