Hey friends! today I’m showing you how I made a 1000 mg CBD oil extract for my friend’s mom for pain relief and as a sleep aid.

Disclaimer; I am not a medical professional and just sharing my own ideas & thoughts. I also reside in Canada where cannabis and all related products are legalized.

I got the CBD isolate from a Canadian retailer, you can check Weedmaps.com for a list of retailers, dispensaries and government storefronts near you.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol and is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis plant (marijuana). Unlike its psychoactive component THC, CBD is the non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant, meaning it will not make you feel “high”.

*CBD BENEFITS + SOME FINDINGS*

CBD has been shown to treat childhood epilepsy syndromes as well as anxiety, insomnia and chronic pain. The FDA approved the first-ever cannabis-derived medicine for epilepsy conditions; Epidiolex, which contains CBD. (Grinspoon. MD, 2020)

A double-blind study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology investigated the use of CBD isolate for those with a generalized social Anxiety disorder (SAD). The subjects were administered 400 mg of CBD dissolved in corn oil. Subjects were given questionnaires before and after ingestion, as well as SPECT imaging of the brain after the CBD was ingested. (Crippa et. al., 2011).

CBD group was significantly associated with brain activity changes in the limbic and paralimbic systems, parahippocampal gyrus, & the hippocampus, in which these areas play a key role in mediating fear and anxiety. CBD reduced activity in the hippocampus & parahippocampal gyrus areas which is consistent with anxiety-reducing (anxiolytic) effects.
(Crippa et. al., 2011).

Many people use CBD to regulate chronic pain as determined by The Arthritis Foundation. They conducted a survey in which 2,600 people who responded to the survey concluding 79% are currently using CBD, 29% report they currently use CBD to manage their arthritis symptoms. Daily use is reported by 63% per cent of those currently using CBD and 26% use it several times per week. They also created a guideline for CBD use which you can check out here https://www.arthritis.org/health-wellness/healthy-living/managing-pain/pain-relief-solutions/cbd-for-arthritis-pain
