Sky News reporter Julia Bradley says Premier Dan Andrews’ choice to not attend the state’s daily press conference amid violent protests in Melbourne’s CBD was a “curious move”.
Victoria Police have estimated between 1,000 to 2,000 protesters attended Tuesday’s demonstration, which was in response to Monday night’s two-week snap shutdown of the construction industry.
Ms Bradley said the Premier’s press conference no-show “angered many in the construction industry, given that they’re really wanting their grievances to be heard”.
“He wasn’t at the press conference, it was the treasurer and some of his health officials,” she added.
“It remains uncertain whether the Premier will be fronting the media tomorrow, we certainly hope that he will be so that he will be able to answer some of these questions.”
