Many of the patients who we see in our neck center have symptoms that include anxiety, depression, dissociation, and the like which had never been part of their life until their neck injury, such as after a whiplash accident. For some, they have a normal, happy life by all accounts yet after their neck symptoms began, they explain to us how they had increased panic attacks and feeling like they were “losing their mind” or losing their grasp of reality. In the continuation of our Strange Sensation series with Ross Hauser, MD, we discuss “Psycho Psyche” and the association with cervical instability. One of our treatment goals with patients who come to our clinic for help with their cervical instability is that they get resolution of these psyche symptoms as well as their physical pain.
