Sky News host Rowan Dean says creating a distinction between fully vaccinated and unvaccinated Australians creates “two classes” of citizens which contravenes “every international convention”.
“The moment you start drawing a distinction between which Australians can and cannot travel within their own country to go see their grandkids, to do their business, because they haven’t had a vaccination, you’re making two classes of Australian citizens that actually goes against every international convention we’ve ever signed,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.
“You’re absolutely playing with fire.”
Mr Dean said the uncertainty over the efficacy of the vaccines makes it difficult to determine a pathway back to normality.
“The way out of this, we don’t know they way out because it’s very, very simple, we don’t know how effective the vaccines are going to be, the whole world is holding its breath,” he said.
“What we do know is that those places that relied on herd immunity to kick in, they’re laughing, they’re just as successful as anywhere else.”
