Premier Daniel Andrews’ compulsive decision to lockdown Victoria to the detriment of the state’s business sector is akin to “Nero fiddling while Rome is burning”, says Small Business Australia Executive Director Bill Lang.
“These are government induced lockdowns, the fear that’s been created by the media, particularly certainly media channels that talk about a crisis – that’s government-induced crisis,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“We’ve got nearly 30 per cent of people who have had one shot, so we’re already on the way to getting some inoculation but the bigger, bigger issue here is we’ll go from a pandemic to an epidemic.
“We’ve been talking for this for 18 months about living with the virus, letting adults make decisions, getting vaccines now that vaccines have been developed.
“But what has been going on with these state premiers, particularly the one here in Victoria, who literally is like Nero fiddling while Rome is burning and then blaming the Christians.”
