This week Curt and Crew take a look at a newcomer to the world of commercial cannabinoids: delta-10 THC.
The phytomolecule was recently discovered during a California wildfire when a batch of outdoor cannabis became contaminated by fire retardant chemicals – causing one or more of the cannabinoids in the plants to convert to Delta-10 (most likely from cannabichromene [CBC], CBD, or delta-9 THC—all of which feature very similar molecular structures).
As a newly discovered molecule, it is not yet regulated by the federal government, and therefore available in markets without access to regulated medical or adult use marijuana. The tenuous nature of regulatory oversight of hemp and cannabis products in the United States means that the legal status of delta-10 is both ambiguous and could change at any time.
In the final episode of Season 1, educator, author and podcaster Curt Robbins (Higher Learning LV) and his panel of industry insiders – co-host David Rheins (MJNews Network), PR professional Alana Armstrong (Alan Aldous) and documentarian Matt Grimshaw (@Matt_Grimshaw) discuss the implications to the regulated marketplace, consumer safety and the critical need for industry standards and protocols around manufacturing, testing and labeling.
We hope that you have enjoyed our first season of Curt’s Cannabis Corner. Higher Learning LV and MJNews Network created this series of articles and podcasts for cannabis and hemp industry professionals seeking to gain a better understanding of the nuanced biochemistry of this special—and newly legal—herb.
We hope you dig it. If so, we only ask that you please Like, Share and Subscribe.
