Sydney’s east and the inner city are just hours away from being plunged into another COVID-19 lockdown.

22 new cases have been detected overnight. But health officials have lost faith in containing the outbreak without more severe restrictions.

From midnight tonight, everyone who lives in the Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick and Sydney City council areas will be required to stay at home.

And crucially, anyone who lives outside the area, but who has worked in the lockdown zone in the past two weeks must also stay at home.
