#cancerconvoswithgraceb: Who has TSC? (Tuberous Sclerosis Complex) Genetic Diseases
CBD and Medical Cannabis are becoming increasingly popular for the treatment or management of a wide range of medical conditions. The controversy surrounding the use of CBD products and the fact it is becoming increasingly popular for having medicinal properties and benefits led us to bring on the show another guest who is an advocate of CBD products and medical cannabis.
Our guest, Jill Woodworth, is a podcast host, a CBD/ Medical Cannabis advocate, and a mother of five, three of whom have Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), each with varying effects. This overwhelming situation initiated and intensified her search for a more natural way of managing this rare, genetic disease afflicting her 3 children all at the same time thus leading to her foray into research, and advocacy in the CBD, THC, and medical marijuana arena.
What is TSC?
TSC causes benign tumors to grow in the organs of the body such as the brain, kidneys, heart, eyes, lungs, and skin. There is no cure but there are diverse ways of managing care. For Jill, just getting by daily is a huge challenge for the children, not to talk about her own physical and mental well-being and she takes time to Jill educate us, from her own perspective of course, about the differences and similarities between CBD and THC, the importance of doing your own research before embarking on a CBD/THC journey, and how her childrens’ quality of life and hers has greatly improved ever since they started using medical marijuana.
Cancer Convos with Grace B. is committed to helping individuals and communities make informed choices and access resources, but will at no time make decisions about specific treatment choices, provide clinical opinions, or perform medical care of any type.
Our mission is to bring to the fore diverse and topical issues related to cancer and the overarching healthcare space while keeping our convos real and on point.
Key takeaway:
If you want to start on a CBD journey, make sure to investigate if it will impact other medications you are on, especially if you have underlying health conditions.
Jill’s soundbite: “Start low. Go slow.”
