Donald Abrams, MD is internationally respected for his pioneering clinical investigative work in the therapeutic value of cannabis for conditions such as HIV-Aids and Cancer.
He continues to research the health effects of medical cannabis and their role in cancer care, most recently serving on the prestigious National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s Committee of The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids: “The Current State of Evidence and Recommendations for Research.” His research has lent support to the powerful anti-emetic and pain relieving properties that may make cannabis a useful complimentary therapy in cancer care.
As a specialist in integrative medicine and cancer treatment at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and author of works such as the textbook Integrative Oncology co-edited with Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Abrams is an international authority in the research and application of complimentary therapies to cancer care, including the medical use of cannabis therapy.
