This was the first webinar of the Craft Cannabis Summit 2021 where we explored the current Cannabis Industry landscape in South Africa.

Myrtle Clarke and our host, Trenton Birch (CEO Cheeba Africa) opened the Summit with a short interview. Myrtle is the Co-founder of Fields of Green for All, South Africa’s first cannabis-based non-profit organization aimed at assisting citizens arrested on any cannabis-related offense. This was followed by an interesting discussion amongst our local and international panelists:

Sibusiso Xaba
Co-founder and CEO of ACA Group. Sibusiso is a seasoned finance professional, having worked at Goldman Sachs and Investec in London for over 8 years.
He has extensive experience covering Africa, specializing in capital markets, debt structuring and syndication, venture capital fundraising, hedging solutions and portfolio management.
Sibusiso has worked with African governments, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds and asset managers over his career, closing transactions worth over $5bn.

John Kagai
Managing director of New Frontier Data. John is a cannabis data analyst from the USA / Kenya.
He is one of the first analysts to focus exclusively on legal cannabis and has incredible knowledge on cannabis models in developed and developing countries.

Vish Sharma
Born and raised in Botswana, Vish studied Dentistry in the Caribbean.
He is the COO/Director of SANM – Southern African Natural Medicines.
SANM is applying for cultivation and extraction rights of cannabis in Botswana in association with Canadian partners and looks forward to being a part of productive discourse.

Clifford Giesenow
A serial entrepreneur with a passion for incubating and launching ideas, with experience in the Cannabis, Real Estate and Technology industries.
Cliff has an MBA from the University of Cape Town and spent a semester at UCLA in California.
His business activities include being the creator and owner of Leafolo™️, the world’s first commercial African herbal smoking blends, he is also one of the co-founders of Taste Of Cannabis, a co-founder of CannaTradeAfrica, which is the holding company of ‘The Greenside’ the country’s largest ‘Cannaporium’ and a founding member of the Cannabis Trade Association of Africa.
