MedicalMarijuanaCME.org’s online continuing medical education courses now meet certification and training requirements in 28 States

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – March 4, 2021 /Canna Newswire/ – The Pennsylvania State Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana has approved the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Certification Course.  The Course is the creation of MedicalMarijuanaCME.org, a distance learning pioneer, who now has active medicinal cannabis online training programs in 28 states.  These continuing education programs are each worth 4 AMA PRA Category I Credits™, thereby meeting physician certification and training requirements.  The Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Certification Course is now listed as an approved training provider on the Pennsylvania Office of Medical Marijuana website.

Separating Myth From Meta-Analysis

MedicalMarijuanaCME.org created their continuing education activities to help physicians to obtain a better understanding of cannabis’ potential to impact patient care.

“Medical marijuana is a legal treatment option in two thirds of the United States, yet traditional medical training does not include lessons in cannabinoid science,” said Gregg Savarese, the company’s COO and general counsel.  “Physicians need an unbiased, accredited resource that separates myth from meta-analysis, informs physician decisions and protects both patient and practitioner.  This is the purpose of MedicalMarijuanaCME.org.”

Online Educational Experience Tailored to Physician’s State of Practice

MedicalMarijuanaCME.org activities deliver an evidence-based analysis of state approved conditions, with thoughtful discussion regarding marijuana’s efficacy, risks and benefits.  Topics include safest practices, addiction, doping, cannabidiol, THC, indicas vs. sativas, physical and cognitive safety issues, mental health impact, risk management/mitigation, edibles and the balance between medical marijuana and opioids.  The programs list the education and training requirements necessary in each state and provide the resources to meet them.

Internationally Acclaimed Faculty

The Course Director for MedicalMarijuanaCME.org educational activities is Michael Schatman, Ph.D.  He is currently the Director of Research and Network Development at Boston Pain Care, and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts School of Medicine.  He is also the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Pain Research.  Dr. Schatman has researched and written hundreds of peer-reviewed articles on cannabinoid medicine, pain bioethics and opioid risk mitigation.  He lectures on these topics at conferences around the world.

Learners Provide Rave Reviews

The initial participants in the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Certification Course have provided excellent reviews for the educational activity.

“Excellent, thoughtful review based on peer reviewed studies and the Lecturer’s extensive clinical experience,” stated Dr. V of Pittsburgh.

Dr. F of West Virginia added,  “I found this course extremely informative in deciphering the appropriate patients that may benefit from medical marijuana.”
