Episode 73. Getting High On Anthropology: A Story-Based Approach to Cannabis Research, Education and Funding, www.FSandGreen.org
Guest: Michael Thomas, High Tides Dispensary
Gualala, California
Michael discusses his experiences in cannabis and operating the High Tides dispensary in Gualala, California. This region is on the southern-most edge of the Emerald Triangle, which has been cultivating cannabis plants for 50 years. According to High Tides website, “It doesn’t really matter whether OG stands for “Ocean Grown”, “Original Gangster” or “Original Genetics,” because growing and processing cannabis right here in the coastal Mendocino region of The Emerald Triangle is considered a way of life; and we locals recognize that pretty much everyone living in our area is either directly or indirectly reliant on the marijuana business.”
This episode includes THE ALMIGHTY HEALER (3 minutes), a digital story produced by Tanya in the course CANNABIS CULTURE, Maymester, 2020, in the Anthropology Department, University of Colorado Denver.
